Beautiful church
Since the seventeenth century, this beautiful church has occupied the same place. Its construction is the work of the first builder who lived in Jujuy, Alonso de la Plaza. After several reconstructions, he decided to make a new church combining early Baroque elements with a neomanieristas style, which is shown in the tower: a slender build of four bodies crowned by the image of San Francisco holding a cross with his left arm. In 1917, the old church was demolished and a new building with two floors and an attic whose facade is similar to the other Franciscan churches of Tucumán, Salta and Catamarca rose up in its place.
