Carlos Olmo
renovated lighthouse
San Esteban de Pravia lighthouse opened in 1945 and has undergone several changes since that time, such as the extension of the dam at the mouth of the Nalón River. The current incarnation dates from 1997 and consists of a simple concrete turret 5 meters high, with a focal plane at 20 meters above sea level, and an optical catoptrics incandescent lamp. The lighthouse is accessible through the village, near the end of the old coal loading docks, which is now used as a sports and leisure area.
