San Cristobal Castle

En Santa Cruz de Tenerife, aunque un día fue un Castillo, hoy en día sólo quedan unas ruinas. De hecho, éstas pocas ruinas que quedan están bajo tierra, en un museo construido para la ocasión. El Castillo de San Cristóbal, de construcción originaria en 1558, es un muy reciente descubrimiento en la ciudad capitalina. Fue derrumbado en 1928 dentro del marco de ampliación urbanística de la capital. Después de ese año el Castillo desapareció, quedando sólo el nombre de la concurrida calle El Castillo. En junio de 2006, durante la renovación de la Plaza de España, El Castillo volvió a salir a la luz. Pero esta vez se decidió conservar las reliquias, haciendo de ellas un museo subterráneo que tiene como techo el actual charco de la Plaza de España. Al museo se entra por unas escaleras cercanas al monumento “a los caídos”. El museo consta de varios pasillos llenos de fotografías, mapas y explicaciones, que acaban en una vista de los bajos del castillo, emulando una visión del mismo desde un barco, escuchando gaviotas, las olas rompiendo y los viejos cañones que defendían el pueblo de Santa Cruz.

Si visitáis el Castillo de San Cristóbal, no os esperéis encontrar un impresionante castillo, ya que éste fue demolido en 1928. Se trata de un Centro de Interpretación subterráneo situado bajo la Plaza de España, en el que podrás descubrir los restos de la muralla de este castillo, que en el siglo XVI fuera el principal baluarte defensivo de la isla. En la exposición, aparte de verse las ruinas del castillo, hay una serie de paneles explicativos en los que se explica cómo era el sistema defensivo de la isla, y hace un recorrido por los castillos de Tenerife, tanto de los que ya no existen, como de los que aún se mantienen en pie (como el de [poi=80448]San Felipe[/poi] de Puerto de la Cuz o el de [poi=80643]San Miguel[/poi] en Garachico). La entrada es gratuita y puede visitarse en los siguientes horarios: - Lunes a viernes: 11 a 18h. Martes cerrado. - Sábados y Domingos: 11 a 19h

A Santa Cruz de Tenerife, l´ancien château qui eut sa période de gloire est aujourd´hui en ruine. La majeure partie est même enfouie sous la terre, car le niveau du sol a monté depuis, mais il y a sous le sol un musée construit en son honneur. Le château de Saint Cristóbal, construit en 1558, est une découverte récente de la capitale canarienne. Il a été partiellement détruit en 1928 dans le cadre de l´ampliation urbanistique de la ville. Apres cela, le château a disparu, laissant seulement son nom à la rue qui passe par là, calle el castillo. En juin 2006, durant la rénovation de la place d´Espagne, le château ressortit de l´ombre. Mais cette fois ci, on a décidé d´en conserver les restes, en en faisant un musée souterrain qui a pour toit la chape de béton de la place d´Espagne. On rentre dans le musée par des escaliers proches du monument aux morts. Le musée est rempli de photos, de cartes et d´explications, qui terminent par une visite des fondations du château.

Vamos a ver:::: Castillo? Donde esta el castillo??? Es un muro de piedra que dicen que fue de un castillo( tengo mis dudas) un fuerte quizás. Recomendacion: No entrar cuando la marea esta alta porque la peste a fuel(debido a los escapes de la refineria que se encuentra en las afueras de la ciudad) os va a echar para afuera aparte de calor y la humedad... Horrible. Si entras corriendo ves el dichoso muro (7metros de longitud y 3 de altura no es mas) y sales pos vale. Si quieren ver castillos y no cuatro piedras mal puestas vallan al ''castillo da pena'' en cintra, portugal. Mérida, badajoz, salmanca. Castillo...Jajaj

Let's see :::: Castle? Where is the castle??? It is a stone wall that say it was a castle (I have my doubts) strong perhaps.
