Samana is a quiet town which is set on the cliffs overlooking the bay with the same name. The houses are small and colorful, and there are people selling souvenirs. There are many places that you can visit near the city: Salto El Limón, the beaches of Las Galeras, Las Terrenas, Playa Rincon, Playa Bonita and Cayacoa. From mid-January to mid-March, Samaná is very popular with visitors who come to see the humpback whales that migrate to the North Atlantic waters.
