City of salt
Salzburg means city of salt, and its name comes from the salt mines in this part of Austria. With the Salzburg Ski Pass, you can ski in more than 40 stations. These include Kitzbuhel, where you can have the ski test (Hahnenkamm), Kaprun glacier, which has a bar made completely of ice, Maria Alm, Schladming, Saalbach, Gastein, Zell Am See (with a lake at its feet), Hochkonig, and many more. You pay €261 for 8 days on the slopes, and eat there - really hearty food to fill you up for a day of skiing! The atmosphere is great, with concerts and shows in the ski resorts. The people are friendly, and accommodation isn't too expensive; most options include a sauna, as well as ski storage and boot warmers.
