Arguably Salesas is the El Corte Inglés of Oviedo, as it is managed mostly by the firm El Corte Inglés. It's in the pedestrian center and financial district, so it's usually always pretty busy. One of the advantages is the underground car park, which although requires payment is a good solution as the streets are pedestrianized. El Corte Inglés isn't very big, but has 4 floors, there are shops of all kinds (clothing, accessories, telephones, furniture, appliances, etc.), mainly of the firm El Corte Inglés, and a hypermarket Hipercor. There are other franchised stores such as Yves Rocher, Natura Selection, Fotoprix, and Tenths.
There's also a kiosk, a lottery and several cafes and restaurants. I've been several times but only recently discovered the reason for its name, which I was curious about. On this site was the Convent of the Order of the Salesians, which was demolished to build this building, the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is right next door. Hours - Monday to Saturday from 10:00-22:00.
