Saint-Nazaire

The silhouettes of the great ocean liners are confused between bridges, cranes and helmets iron colorful fishing boats ... Saint-Nazaire is above all a port and a large shipyard: 'Les Chantiers de l'Atlantique'. It is one of the many entrances to Pays de la Loire towards the Atlantic. So far many ferries arrive from Spain and the UK. Walking around the harbor makes you aware of the colossal work performed in the shipyards. Historically, the city feeds a passionate fusion between the port and the sea. Without both, it's nothing. The result of its past and present shipyard, from St-Nazaire to Nantes, you can see a peculiar and astonishing place exhibiting 40 works of modern art through the Loire estuary.

With the image of the skeletons of ships, St. Nazaire totals more than 20 beaches and dozens of places closely connected to the sea and its history. Highly recommended International Cruise Center, the Escal'Atlantic (a naval museum art) or visit the Broadsword (the only submarine open to the public float). Barely an hour away from Nantes.
