Impressive Beauty
Having visited many churches, abbeys and cathedrals in Europe, the one which has no doubt eft me more impressed by its beauty has been that of San Juan de las Viñas in Soissons. The play of light and shadow that spans the great windows and the great rose against a deep blue sky, make it unique. The construction is quite deteriorated but is currently in the process of restoration, it stands on the old Romanesque church founded by John Hill St. It belongs to the order of St. Augustine. It dates from the late twelfth to sixteenth centuries, noting for example the facade of this period, the dining room, cellar and two galleries in the cloisters from the late thirteenth century, the small Renaissance cloister and the 16th century abbot's house.
