Beautiful village church
Between the city of Stirling and Perth you'll find the village of Dunning. It's a city rich in history, with particular importance in the story of the Celtic St Serf. Surely one of the most beautiful village churches in the country, St Serf's was built in the 12th century and retains most of its original structure. The beautiful church is now under the care of Historic Scotland (agency of the Scottish Government). However, entry is free and inside is a gem of Celtic Scotland: the Cross of Dupplin. The story of the foundation of the church is based on a Celtic legend. When the saint came to Dunning during his trip to Scotland, he found the population terrorized by the presence of a ferocious dragon.
