Saint Martin church

Saint Martin de Vertou est l'église principale de la paroisse de Vertou, une commune de Loire-Atlantique (44) située au sud-est de Nantes. Comme la plupart des églises de la région, Saint Martin de Vertou a été construite à la fin du XIXème, en 1875 plus précisément sur la place principale du bourg. Cet édifice religieux est dédié à Martin de Vertou, qui fut le fondateur de la ville. En effet, ce moine ligérien fut chargé de la conversion des habitants de la région et s'est installé dans la campagne nantaise en 577 faisant construire une première église et un monsatère qui jetteront les bases de la future ville de Vertou. Cette église de style néo-gothique a été en partie rénovée en 2010 par la mairie de Vertou et c'est aujourd'hui un des bâtiments historiques de la ville.

Saint Martin de Vertou is the main church of the parish of Vertou a common Loire-Atlantique (44) south-east of Nantes. Like most churches in the area, Saint Martin de Vertou was built in the late nineteenth century, in 1875, more precisely on the main town square. This religious building is dedicated to Martin Vertou, who was the founder of the city. Indeed, the Loire monk was responsible for the conversion of the inhabitants of the region and settled in the Nantes 577 campaign by building the first church and monsatère that will lay the groundwork for future town Vertou. This church in neo-Gothic style was renovated in 2010 by the mayor of Vertou and today is one of the historical part of the city.

L'église Saint-Martin, située sur la Place Auguste Lerat à Vertou, a été fondée au VIème siècle. L'église actuelle date du XIXème siècle,après avoir connu plusieurs destructions et rénovations. Elle est de style néo-gothique et le clocher s'aperçoit de très loin. Elle est ouverte lors de la messe du dimanche et il y a souvent des concerts à l'intérieur.

The Saint-Martin, located on the Place Auguste Lerat Vertou church was founded in the sixth century. The present church dates from the nineteenth century, after several destructions and renovations. It is neo-Gothic style and the bell tower visible from afar. It is open during Sunday Mass and there is often live music inside.
