Pity we did not we stay longer
Sa Rang Chae is a complex of several hanok houses divided by rooms and is in the city center, near the royal tombs. It's a ten minute walk from the bus station, so if you go to Gyeongju by bus from Busan (or another city) it is easy and close. The good thing about Sa Rang Chae is it's a fairly inexpensive place to stay. You ask for a bath in you room or share an external one. On the website you can see the price list per room. The owners are very friendly, kind and speak English so you will not have problems booking room. Try to book ahead of time as it is usually full of people visiting from Gyeongju.
There is also possibility of breakfast and lunch. We took part in various activities organized there. We went to a workshop on sumaksae drawing on paper, and others. You can read there, plus they have all the information to find the buses to visit nearby places like Andong festival masks, for example. Pity we did not we stay longer as we had so much to see. Surely we better go back in the future as there is still much to enjoy in Gyeongju, and I want to return to Sa Rang Chae. The rooms are simple, as in a traditional house. Where we stayed was a whole house divided into three segments that resulted in three rooms. We slept on a futon on the hot floor and I can say that the experience is to to repeated as often as required. Because after you've spent the day visiting Gyeongju sites, traditional style sleeping and waking up in a place so nice was appreciated.
