Ruins of Toniná
Tonina is a little off the beaten track, allowing visitors to stroll through pyramids, temples and tunnels. The small museum shows the importance of the site during the pre-Columbian period, with an impressive model. It was really interesting to see what went before. After walking around, if you do not have a fear of heights, I'd suggest that you climb to the top of the main building, for a magnificent view of the site and its surroundings. Of course there is no ladder or other safety net so do take care! But it is definitely worth a visit while in Chiapas!
