Boudhanath prayer wheels

La estupa de Boudhanath no es uno solo uno de los lugares budistas más importantes de Nepal, tambien es uno de os sitios dónde mas mantras se recitan o se escuchan no solo cantados por los fieles, tambien las tiendas que lo circundan tienen mantras como música de fondo. Durante todo el recorrido al rededor de la estupa, podemos hacer girar las ruedas o molinos de oración que hay de todos los tamaños y que al hacerlos girar estás elevando una plegaria al cielo. Las ruedas de oración son de forma cilíndrica montadas sobre un eje y construida de metal, madera o piedra. En su exterior esta escritos el mantra mas poderoso, el Om Mani Padme hum o los signos auspiciosos de Buda. El primer dato que se tiene de las ruedas de oración datan del año 400 en Ladakh. Los peregrinos que acuden a orar a Boudhanath la hace girar incesantemente e inclusive muchos de ellos también llevan en su mano un pequeño "molinillo" con el mismo cilindro y van girándolo mientras caminan
