Full of a variety of shops

The Rua da Junqueira is the main pedestrian road of Póvoa. It is busy and full of a variety of shops. The road runs parallel with the Avenue de los Descubrimientos (discoveries), from the Chapel of Santiago to David Alves Street. Besides the intense commercial activity, it's worth walking the street and observing the typical buildings of the 19th and early 20th centuries. They are simple houses, usually two floors (the bottom designed for trade and the second floor for housing), some with tiled facades, others brightly painted, especially with beautifully wrought iron railings on the balconies
