Royal Theatre (Teatro Real)

The Royal Theater of Madrid (also called "El Real") is the Opera of Madrid, the most important in the country, together with the one in Barcelona. From the outside, it is an imposing building, fitting perfectly in the Plaza de Oriente, just in front of the Royal Palace. But from the inside it is one of the places that will leave you flabbergasted, especially after seeing the auditorium itself. It is a huge and luxurious room, which does not leave anyone disappointed.

There are several ways of visiting it. The most common, is, of course, attending one of the shows. There are prices for all budgets, from almost 200€ that can cost the seats in the first line or in the central box, until 15€ we paid yesterday night for ones with limited visibility.

The Royal Theater and the beautiful Plaza de Oriente is one of the essential sights in Madrid. Apart from observing the imposing facade it is worth checking the program, since it is also possible to see to a dress rehearsal. In my case, I was lucky enough that a friend worked there and I could enjoy an Opera by Wagner in a box. I can assure you, it is one of the most impressive things I have ever seen and the best theater display without a doubt (and I work in theater...)

It is really worth paying for the entrance and enjoy this beautiful building, observing the royal box and the amazing depth of the stage, the stage house, the very elaborated staging offered there. For those who have never been to the Opera, I recommend going to an Italian one, lighter and funnier but not necessarily less spectacular.
