This square is the heart of the city, and is dominated by a magnificent fountain since 1865 representing the city of Nantes. The square was drawn by the same architect, Crucy ve created the neoclassical building of the Exchange, located not far from here. The Church of St. Nicholas stands in the square, and see the Holy Cross (at its side), with the most beautiful bell tower of the city, surrounded by Angels playing trumpets.
The Plaza Real is in the heart of Nantes. Designed by architect Crucy in 1790, it became pedestrian-only just a few months ago. It´s a point of reference for the rich and an attractive sight to see for tourists. Built in 1865, there is a large fountain in the center of the square that represents Nantes, Loire and its tributaries (Cher, Loiret and Sevre). Armed with a trident, the statue of Neptune shows the Atlantic Nantes. The Plaza Real is very lively but offers the opportunity to relax in the sun on a terrace or at the edge of the fountain.
