This convent is located in the historic centre of Badajoz, on the corner of Calle Duque de San German, and was founded by Leonor Laso de la Vega y Figueroa in 1518. Today it is inhabited by an order of Franciscan monks, who have a small shops selling sweets and pastries. Carlos III gave it the title of "royal monastery", as Queen Anne of Austria (wife of Philip II) was buried here. There are two facades: on one, in Calle Santa Ana, you can see Carlos III's coat of arms, made of stone in 1771, and on the other, in Calle Duque de San German, you can see the shield of the order. The most notable parts are the buttresses of the temple and the bell tower that stands at the foot of the presbytery.
