ROYAL MAUSOLEUM

Under the Temple of The Sun there is a small cave, which is known as the Royal Tomb. It is a huge block of stone inclined to support part of the Temple of the Sun, this was the place where they worshipped and gave offerings to the ancestors of the Inca Empire, or high dignitaries whose mummies remained. It was so named by Bingham because he believed the place could hold the mummy of a noble from Cuzco or possibly an Inca.
