A fascinating site
This Renaissance palace is one of the most remarkable buildings of Medina and has been declared a historical monument. It was built of brick, limestone and granite in the sixteenth century by order of Philip II, and was designed by Rodrigo Gil de Hontañón.
The façade of brick arches stands out from the building, above pillars of ashlar limestone; it has three entryways made of stone, on which you can see the royal shields and arms of Philip II. The interior is rectangular and is divided into three naves, designed lengthwise, separated by two rows of eight Tuscan columns that support semicircular arches.
