Rotonda is a small town in the Pollino national park and makes a suitable base for exploring the park. As with many towns in Basilicata the old town has a distinctly medieval feel. In June the town celebrates the "marriage of the trees" between a beech tree and a silver fir, once joined the trees are paraded past various churches for blessings.
