Rothesay Castle
Rothesay Castle is famous for two reasons. The first is architectural, with a curious and very unusual circular floor. The second for its history, linked to the famous Scottish clan the Stewarts. It was the official residence of the family from 1371 to 1414. The castle dates from the early thirteenth century and perhaps its main function was shortly after the Viking invasions when the castle served as a defense to the local population.
