Roman Temple of Cordoba

La Córdoba actual es claro ejemplo de ciudad superpuesta. Esto quiere decir que bajo la ciudad actual, se encuentra enterradas los restos de otras ciudades; medieval cristiana, musulmana y romana. Hay pocos ejemplos de estos vestigios que se hayan podido conservar en su lugar de origen. Diversos intereses tanto políticos como económicos han hecho que no se haya podido crear algún tipo de parque arqueológico para poder ser visitado. Lo cierto es que hay restos romanos por ejemplo por toda la ciudad, incluso dentro de la mezquita han aflorado algunas ruinas, por ello que sea tan difícil conservarlas in situ ya que tendrías que destrozar muchas otras construcciones históricas. Otro ejemplo de estas dificultades fue recientemente la conservación del Palatium de Cercadilla el cual no se pudo conservar en su totalidad donde se descubrió por la necesidad de construir una nueva estación de ferrocarril. Ahí se plantea un dilema sobre de que es mas importante si el satisfacer necesidades coyunturales de la sociedad actual o la conservación de un testimonio histórico. Si vais a Córdoba creo que es digno de visitar los restos del legado romano sobre todo porque no es algo a lo que se le suele dar mucha importancia y es digno de ver. Podemos encontrar desde columnas hasta mosaicos como uno de los del Alcázar, donde se ve el cíclope Polifemo declarando su amor a la ninfa Galatea.

Córdoba cuenta con su gran mezquita, con un hermoso y bien cuidado puente romano y también, aunque no sea muy famoso, con los restos de un templo romano. Este templo fue descubierto durante las obras de ampliación del ayuntamiento cordobés en la década de los 50s. Se sabe que no fue el único templo que tuvo la ciudad, aunque sí el más importante y el más grande, ya que mide 32 metros de largo por 16 de ancho. Actualmente los únicos restos conservados son los cimientos, la escalera y el altar y varios fustes de columnas y capiteles que nos hacen imaginarnos la grandiosidad y belleza que tuvo durante la época en que estuvo en uso. Sin duda una buena y diferente opción para disfrutar del patrimonio cordobés.

This temple was discovered during the redevelopment of the City of Córdoba in the decade of the 50s. Llegó a ser de las ciudades más grandes y esplendorosas de la Edad Media. Pero antes que árabe fue visigoda y antes romana y antes... Y este templo lo recuerda y también es interesante descubrir esa otra Cartuba romana, además de este templo encontraras vestigios romanos en el entorno del museo arqueológico y en los bajos/ sótanos del mismo donde están los restos del anfiteatro de la ciudad. También en el paseo de la victoria, hay mausoleos romanos.

Más allá de su valor arqueológico y visual, las columnas están apartadas tras unas rejas, no me parece un momento muy destacado, más allá que seas un erudito en arquitectura o arqueología.
