A noteworthy memorial
Another noteworthy memorial inside the Cathedral of Santo Domingo is the tomb of Rodrigo de Bastidas, a Spanish conquistador who took part in the voyages to the New World with Columbus and Juan de la Cosa. It is in one of the side chapels of the temple, carved in stone. The tomb is topped with the recumbent figure of the man who lies buried within. There is a strip of tile panels on the side wall of the chapel.
