Excellent burgers in Galle
As much as I love spicy Sri Lankan rice and curry, I have to admit that I was getting a bit tired of it during the second week of our trip. Luckily, we found Rocket Burger, a rock-solid burger restaurant on Pedlar Street in the historic district of Galle Fort. The restaurant itself is simple, casual, and has a beachy vibe that's not out of place in tropical Galle, but really who cares about the decor. If you want fancy dining, there are tons of places to eat in Galle. But if you want a soul-satisfying burger, there's only one!
Rocket Burger has 6 or 7 burgers on the menu which range from traditional beef burgers to fish and chicken and even a vegetarian burger. I opted for a monstrous burger called the Lighthouse, which was stacked high with two beef patties, cheese, steak sauce, caramelized onions, and cole-slaw. It was heavenly (though I definitely needed to lie down afterwards!). My wife got the more modestly-sized Grandma burger with your usual lettuce, tomato, and mayo.
