Robberg Nature Reserve

Scenari marini grandiosi, spiagge incontaminate, foche, sentieri spettacolari, balene che emigrano: Questi sono alcuni degli aspetti che il visitatore potrà scoprire percorrendo i sentieri della Riserva Naturale della Penisola Robberg. Situata a pochi chilometri da Plettenberg Bay, si raggiunge seguendo la strada che lambisce la spiaggia di Robberg, fino al parcheggio dove si deve necessariamente lasciare l'auto, prima di decidere quale sentiero percorrere. La penisola forma uno stretto promontorio che si allunga per 2 km nel mare e il sentiero completo segue tutta la costa con un percorso circolare. Dal punto di vista naturalistico, Robberg è un punto di riferimento importante per le balene durante la loro migrazione. Il sentiero sale dapprima sul promontorio per poi lambire il mare dove vive una colonia di foche, quindi si valica la cima e si cammina su alcune dune, che scendono improvvisamente verso una grandiosa spiaggia che forma una lingua di sabbia tra due mari. Il sentiero segue poi una parte di costa rocciosa con qualche difficoltà fino a tornare al parcheggio. Calcolare circa 3 ore per il percorso completo.

A Robberg Nature Reserve foi uma grande surpresa durante nossa viagem na Garden Route sul-africana. Não sei o porquê, mas pensávamos que seria um lugar sem graça, plano, à beira da praia. Mas chegando lá já se nota que não é nada disto. A peninsula é cheia de falésias! Uma passarela de madeira foi instalada para facilitar a caminhada sobre a peninsula devido ao relevo que é bastante irregular. Durante a visita há diversos lugares onde se pode ter uma vista magnifica do mar e das praias ao redor. O local é muito apreciado pelas pessoas que querem ver baleias, golfinhos e lobos-marinhos. Uma colônia deste ultimo está instalada na ali e pode ser vista do alto de uma falésia. Há também um local onde aves marinhas fazem seus ninhos, com um pequeno passeio que te leva a alguns metros de tudo isto. A Reserva vale muito à pena! Depois da visita fomos almoçar em Plettenberg Bay antes de continuar a estrada em direção de Nature's Valley.
