Diverse landscapes
Heading towards the beach of Monterrico on the Pacific coast of Guatemala, you come across the most diverse landscapes. First, active volcanoes and after turning down the slopes of the volcanoes, we reach more lush, livestock area, where they also cultivate sugar cane. In short, the landscape flattens out completely, and sea sponges are dried naturally and called the "Vineyard of the Sea". After a hectic half hour on a "chicken bus" you come to Chiquimulilla, from which you take a boat to Monterrico. The drive itself is worth the trip, but the beach is the highlight, with its water at 25 degrees all year round.
