Rishikesh Monkeys

Monkey stealing my food

You see them in many parts of India but Rishikesh flourish everywhere like humans. The monkeys in this area of the Ganges are massive, have a long tail and black face, with a mane whiter than the rest of the body. Before, these animals lost civilization shyness and every day they go one step closer to the houses, to bars and restaurants, shops, markets. People are scared, and at one point its funny. But do not trust at all of the Rishikesh monkies. I came to go in the water in a small beach on the Ganges and in one hand I had a bag with leftovers from my picnic. I was distracted. I was coming to town when I felt 'something' , it violently snatched my bag.

I turned around and saw a terrified ape running in the opposite direction with my things. When he was some distance away, and as if taunting me, opened the bag and began to eat very quiet. The shock that I noticed was terrible and unforgettable. Since that day, the food, however few I had was always in my backpack.

The monkeys do not touch

No me cayeron bien.
Do not be surprised to see critters roam freely in Rishikesh, especially when going long Laxman Jhula leaving behind you the Sachcha Dham Ashram. Even in the same bridge you can see monkeys hanging from the straps at almost any time of day or cows lying without worry that pedestrians have to jump over to reach the other side. Especially monkeys (some really big) and cows occasionally dogs (I never saw a cat in Rishikesh, in fact I only saw a cat in India and was more than 3,000 meters high, I'd rather not think why), go through town like he owned the place. These animals human gives them anything but fear and I personally do not get too used to them to avoid me problems. In fact, the monkeys who walk at sunset across the a fall Laxman Jhula me inspired little confidence. I looked with aggressive eyes ... I do not hit it off. Now, monkey mom and monkey baby out really cute in pictures, despite the redundancy. Every detail that I did not steal the camera or give me a capon.
