Retezat National Park

Retezat National Park was created back in the 30s and covers a total of 380 square km. It has more than 60 high mountains which are over 2300 meters and it also has several glacial lakes. It is a stunning place where you can go hiking all the way from the city of Orastie for example. It is best to ask at the tourist office for information first, especially in the winter when the weather changes quickly and it can snow at any time. The mountains are beautiful, and is one of the few areas in Europe which remains intact. There you find a third of the floral species that the country has, but also animals like wolves, bears, deer.
