A wonderful place
In the Alt Emporda we found the little village of Palau-Saverdera, near Roses, Empuriabrava and Cadaqués. It had small streets, well-preserved old houses and great views of the fields. There are several restaurants, but we strongly recommended Rhodes. Precious indoor dining and the best terrace with garden. It's a big place but very intimate and romantic. The food is excellent, I ate steamed mussels in black pepper sauce followed by the house specialty, a shoulder of lamb with potatoes - the meat was very tender and tasty, they also have a wine sauce that is spectacular. For dessert you can choose from many that are on view on a cart.
They have a great sensitivity for wine and have a careful menu. The restaurant is on farmland and on the Emporda wine route, and it shows, I recommend any wine from the region, all are a really good gift. Ah! And the entrance has a lovely stone oven for pizzas to eat in or take away.
