The center of Madrid has a beach

Right in the heart of Madrid you will find this interesting restaurant, the Ojalá.

In the Malasaña neighborhood, choosing a place to eat turns out to be a difficult decision. There are many places to discover, all very interesting.

Ojalá is more a tapas place than a menu one, but in my case and because it was Friday we could enjoy an affordable set meal for 11.50€ (all inclusive). I was very surprised at the fact that they also serve an express meal in which you get the starter and the main dish in the same plate, and then the drink and the dessert. It costs 8€.

We had a mushroom and mozzarella salad and then baked sea bass with a vegetable and rice sauté. Everything was good even though what I preferred was the dessert: white chocolate mousse with cranberry jam...

One of the most attractive things of the Ojalá is the lower floor. In my case I ate in the upper one with a table and a chair, but downstairs there is an area full of sand and with pillows on the ground to sit down. The truth is it can be very funny to go with friends and sit down as if you were on a beach.

Can be used for almost everything

Very good atmosphere and service are two of the things one can find in Ojalá...

You can go on almost any occasion: you can start the night enjoying one of the best mojitos I tried in Madrid with funk, rock or chill out music, but it is also great for group reunions and to enjoy a very good lunch or dinner.

There are two floors, the upper one with the bar and some tables to eat, but if you want a summer atmosphere all year long, the best is to go downstairs where sitting between pillows and sand, with the light of candles and with a space for dinner in groups, the waiters take your orders...

There's a variety of food, from meat (the wild boar brochettes are incredible) to salads (the foie one is delicious), although the first time it is probably better to order the tasting menu so that the next times you already have an idea about the culinary aspect.

Special light and floor

One of the things I liked the most in the Ojalá is the lighting. The owners are the same as for La Musa in La Latina and these two have something in common, part of the lower floor is very special: the entire floor is of beach sand and you eat in armchairs on the floor (it is not very comfortable but it is funny for a dinner with friends).

In terms of food, a little bit of everything: various salads, meat, sushi, makis, etc. And the desserts are very good.
