Restaurante Neptuno

It was the month of the artichoke and it was a wonderful experience, firstly we went tasting in the village and then we had the menu at the Neptuno Paseo Marítimo restaurant, with stunning presentation and a good deal. (Restaurant Neptuno Paseo Marítimo, 94 12580, Benicarlo, tel 964 460 555). Some items from the menu were: Entertainments Neptuno, Warm salad of artichokes with goat cheese and quail drumstick marinated in nuts, artichokes sautéed with red prawns, scallop in its shell and shrimp stuffed artichoke gratin, crispy sausage artichokes on their pilpil four cheese, sorbet of pineapple and rum, supreme pinxo of hake en papillote with artichokes or lamb shoulder recental baked with artichokes and fried potatoes, artichoke delight to quince Mascarpone cheese foam.

The food here is exquisite. They have a varied a la carte menu and a daily menu for 12 euros. We had the menu of gazpacho, anchovies with peppers, Galician octopus, clams, razor clams and prawns with artichokes. All washed down with wine. For dessert, we enjoyed Catalan cream and pineapple strudel which were quite spectacular. We had coffee and liquors. It was 33 euros a head. Fantastic.

When we pass through Benicarló, we have to stop at this restaurant. The quality and price are unbeatable. We are regular customers here. Both the rice dishes and seafood are exceptional. The managers Victor and Gaspar buy fish daily at a fish auction in Benicarlo.

Neptune Restaurant is a great place to eat. We are regulars and we are never disappointed. The value for money is excellent. They serve the best rice and seafood that I have tried.

When we visit Benicarlo and Peniscola, we always eat in this restaurant. Last time, we had the rice with prawns and sea nettles which was excellent, followed by delightful squid with artichokes and a dessert of chocolate cake and nougat ice cream.
