Inspired in Adriá's style

It is hard to write something about this place that has not been said before, especially since the restaurant got its first Michelin star at the beginning of 2008. The chef Carles Abellán is a disciple of El Bulli and also run the 24 hour tapas restaurant: Tapas 24 in Diputación street in Barcelona.

Eating in Comerç 24 is a very special experience if you do not know other avant-garde cuisine restaurants inspired in Ferrán Adriá's style. Foams, esterifications, artichoke sorbets, macadamia nuts covered with gold or the famous Kinder eggs also on the tasting set-meal of some restaurants of the same trend: eggs filled with potato and black truffle. All these elements are the signature of Comerç 24.

When you arrive the waiters give a lot of explanation on the menu and suggest one of the two tasting set-meals. I think both of them cost around 70€. We chose the "festival" option, an entire meal from appetizer to dessert, the wine is to order separately.

Every element of the meal is a tiny portion and they often bring several of these at a time. There is some kind of evolution between the first dishes and the last ones, starting with lighter ingredients to more consistent things like small dishes of fish or meat, although the quantity is always small. Even the desserts are made of various parts. We had a foamy juice of various fruits, a small plate with forest fruits and yogurt, chocolate ice cream with salt crystal and toast.
