Large rooms
Allmandring I is one of the student dorms on the Vaihingen campus, Universität. The dorms in Germany are different from Spanish dorms. Each student has their own room and the kitchen and mixed gender bathrooms are shared, with about 10 people. Every half floor has showers and the other half has toilets. The rooms are large. Each has a big study table, chair, bedside table, bookcase, sink and a "hall closet". In addition, each block has a huge terrace, great for barbecues and parties with many people. Many of my friends lived in Allmandring. At first, I heard bad things about the residence, but is an alright place to live for a while.
Although they have hired cleaning staff for two days a week, the state of the public areas is highly dependent on your floor mates. In Allmandring I, there are mostly Chinese, Polish, Italian and Spanish students. The worst thing is to organize cleaning duties, garbage disposal, and refrigerator space. The monthly rent is about 230 euros. You need to be a student and you can only live there for 3 years at the most.
