Regional Archaeological Museum of Altos de Chavon

The Regional Archaeological Museum of Altos de Chavon can be found just behind the St. Stanislaus Church , in Altos de Chavon (an integral village in the luxurious residential Country House . It's considered to be one of the best and most comprehensive museums in the Caribbean. The museum was opened in 1982, and it contains a Samuel Pion collection, consisting of more than 3,000 objects related to the pre-Columbian culture and history of the island as well as how to life of the native population before the arrival of the Spanish.
