Connect with yourself
As the name suggests, the Refugio de Aliva is really a refuge in many respects. From my point of view, it's a haven away from asphalt and busy society, tucked away in a secluded corner of the world where you can disconnect, unwind, and be with yourself.
Our last experience there was somewhat unplanned. We spent one night and ate at the restaurant. Given how remote it is, it seemed surprising how many things like restaurants or bars there were out there in the middle of nowhere.
One night was enough to discover the tremendous sensation of silence and disconnection. You could walk to the window and really see the stars. This is something so simple, yet so important for me.
As far as the rooms go, they're quite spacious and have the generally austere design typical of mountain huts. Although, compared to others we have been to, this is a luxury retreat! It's just a remote and beautiful corner of the world where you can escape when you feel like you're drowning under the weight of the world.
