Pretty county of Brasov
Rasnov is a small village in the region of Transylvania, located in the pretty county of Brasov. In the past it was a part of the Saxon region Burzenland however the city is much older than that. It most probably dates back to the Romans. There is the famous peasant fortress Rasnov from the 14th century, Also still present in the village are several saxon houses. In German, the name of the city is Rosenau. The Germanic influence is still very present and felt to this day, and in the streets of the city, you will still hear people speaking German. The city has a population of approximately 15,000 inhabbitants.
The boundary between the large cultivated grasslands and mountains, was once a strategic place to see without being seen. The river crosses the city Ghimbasel. Most visitors do not take the time to visit the city and go directly to the citadel, but there is lots to do in the town of Rasnov low, especially with the proximity of the mountains, there are opportunities to go hiking, biking, and if you have a car it is even better to stay in a small boarding houses in the city to discover the region.
