The War Train
This photo was taken during my route through the Balkans in June 2011. During my time in Bihac (Bosnia), I couldn't stop taking photographs of disused roads through the town towards the Bosnian-Croatia border. In a place where the war is still all too present, the picture gives a contradictory feeling. On one hand, the passage of a war that spanned a country with railways full of loneliness, sadness and abandonment. On the other hand, a glowing sun invites illuminating hope for a tepid recovery of everyday life reflected in a small food stall.
