Central and comfortable
When we planned the trip to Puerto Rico, we were unsure of exactly where to reserve our hotel. We did not know whether it would be the Rio Grande, where the big resorts are located, such as the new relax and secluded hotel Meliá, or dive into the colonial quaintness of Old San Juan, at the Sheraton which is located directly opposite the harbor where our cruise would dock. In the end we decided to stick with a compromise, the Radisson County, which was very close to everything, with an excellent location for island excursions. This is not a new hotel, there are a couple of things it should refurbish slowly, like the American carpets, which keep the musty smell from years before, or the habit of putting the air conditioner on high to stop the condensation forming that was visible from the street. For everything else, the hotel is not bad.
The best thing is its location, in the tourist area of Condado, like a small Miami, because of the seaside skyline and Lake County, the perfect area for a runner like me. That's if getting up early before the heat, the humidity and sun make running unpleasant. Spacious room with wifi access (vital), very clean with deliciously comfortable and inviting beds, especially after a long day's drive, and beach views. We did not use other services such as the Casino (very popular not only for players but as a place for wedding receptions and other events or the Ambassador Grill, quite famous in the city. What we did use every day was the free parking , very comfortable, and well staffed. I missed breakfast at the hotel, and everyone knows that without coffee I'm awful, but fortunately, the friendly staff told us about Danny's about 200 meters from the hotel that fit our expectations. So it's definitely a recommended place to stay while we know the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, the Caribbean Star property.
