Dónde vamos Eva
A tapas classic in Barcelona
As the saying goes, if you haven’t been to QuimetQuimet, you haven’t been in Barcelona. This tavern located in the heart of the trendy PobleSec neighborhood has been offering comforting tapas and preserves for over four generations, a clue to the place’s peculiar style.
The tavern is small, and sometimes over-crowded. It’s nearly impossible to get a seat at certain hours. People from all over come here to scarf down a variety of tapas, and that’s on top of the locals who’ve been coming here for years.
As one of the signs says “Neither Picasso, Miró, nor Gaudi ever set foot here, but who cares?” I don’t know how they do it, but QuimetQuimet has a higher concentration of visitors than any of Barcelona’s museums.
We decided to try the Torta del Casar (a soft, pungent cheese), sea urchins, a cheese platter, and some delicious glasses of wine. Then, we began to explore PobleSec and the port area with our stomachs full.
It’s open from Mon-Fri 12-16:00h and 19-22:30h. On Sat., it’s open from 12-14:00h. The average price is around 30 €. It’s not the cheapest tapas bar I know, but the quality and fame of the tapas is worth it.
What are you waiting for? Try QuimetQuimet and explore this surprising neighborhood!
