MELITHA BLASCO
Data from the year 200 A.D.
The Temple of Quetzalcoatl, is another of the wonders that are in this archaeological site only 45 km NW of the city of Mexico DF. The breathtaking ruins of this citadel are about the same height as Machu Pichu, the other important new world city, but they differ in that the latter is on the "edge of a precipice", while the first is in the midst of a vast plain. The Temple of Quetzalcoatl was a sumptuous building, it harmoniously integrates architecture, sculpture and painting. All over the front of this temple feathered serpent heads protrude, representing the mythical Quetzalcoatl, a former semi-living god of Mesoamerican culture.
