Pyramids of the Queens
To the south of the pyramid of Menkaure, there are 3 smaller pyramids called the pyramids of the queens. They were buried in more modest funeral quarters of the pharaohs who deserved their place alongside them. These 3 pyramids are smaller than the ones next to the pyramid of Cheops. They are lined up next to the south wall of the Great Pyramid. They date back to the 3rd millennium BC. They were most likely Mikerinos´ wives. Only 1 was a true pyramid, it is thought that the others were places of offerings and worship, but also continental graves. The 3 pyramids are surrounded by a wall.
