Sixth tallest Pyramid
This is a multicultural and sports centre. Shaped like a pyramid to honour the Egyptian city of Memphis. Concerts, meetings and basketball games are held here. The Pyramid Arena was the home court for the Memphis Grizzlies for four years (2001-2004). It has seating for about 21,000 people and is in the centre of the U.S. city of Memphis, right on the banks of the Mississippi River. It was built in 1991, and standing at 98 meters tall, it's the world's sixth largest pyramid. Initially, it hosted the basketball team from the University of Memphis, and later in 2001, it hosted the NBA basketball team, the Memphis Grizzlies.
However, in 2004, both teams left the pyramid to move to a new stadium, the FedEx Forum. After the basketball teams left the stadium, the pyramid was unoccupied with no long-term plans. In 2005, the arena's committee thought about turning it into a casino, an aquarium, a shopping centre, or a theme park on ancient Egypt. In the photo, you can see it in the distance, along the river.
