Celebration of easter that focuses on Judas
It is a great chance to visit one of the most representative of Guanajuato, Purisima del Rincon, a city that celebrates Easter in a way unparalleled since it is not Jesus who stars in the celebration, but Judas. For more than 138 years they have celebrated La Judea, a tradition in the heart of the city, and he is the one who aided the apprehension and death of Jesus. The celebration finishes on Friday 16:30 o'clock when Judas is hanged in the presence of more than 30 000 viewers. One of the most interesting detail are the masks used. In Mexican culture they still have a great importance in cultural activities.
About 300 participants use them and are true works of art and it takes up to 6 months to be created due to the detail and quality, they can cost up to 1,500 dollars and the main masks are Judas, rancher, Oriental, The cheerful, Time and Devil's Mayor and Less. To get to La Purisima del Rincon, take the Highway 45 Irapuato call and passes by Aguascalientes and Guadalajara, this is 35 miles southwest of Leon.
