Punitaqui es una comuna que se encuentra en la provincia de Limarí, en la cuatrta Región de Coquimbo, en el centro-norte de Chile. En verano sus temperaturas son de más de treinta grados y en invierno no bajan de dos grados centígrados. Sus principales atractivos turísticos son los molinos de viento, que se pueden ver por toda la comuna. Se usan principalmente para la extracción de agua. La zona de Maintencillo también es interesante de ver ya que cuenta con asentamientos prehispánicos principalmente de la cultura Molle y Diaguitas. Aquí se pueden encontrar las "piedras tacitas" que son grandes piedras con perforaciones del tamaño de una taza de café que se cree que eran utilizadas para guardar alimentos y molerlos, pero no está muy claro, siendo aún un misterio para la arqueología. En esta materia de petroglifos, también está San Pedro de Quiles que tiene un importante patrimonio cultural en vestigios de la cultura Diaguita. Pablo Neruda dedicó a esta comuna el poema de "Las Flores de Punitaqui" incluido en su obra cumbre "Cante General".
Punitaqui is a municipality located in the province of Limar, cuatrta in the Region of Coquimbo, in the north-central Chile. In summer the temperatures are more than thirty degrees and in winter not lower than two degrees Celsius. TOURIST Its main attractions are the windmills, which can be seen throughout the community. They are used mainly for the extraction of water. Maintencillo area also is interesting to watch as it has pre-Hispanic settlements around the Molle culture and Diaguitas. Here you can find the "tacit stones" that are large stones with holes the size of a cup of coffee is believed they were used to store food and grind, but is not very clear, being a mystery to an archaeologist. In this field of petroglyphs, also is San Pedro de Quiles has an important cultural heritage vestiges of the Diaguita culture. Pablo Neruda dedicated himself to this community's poem "The Flowers of Punitaqui" included in the summit book "Sing General".

Es un lugar hermoso, (con temblores) y donde el cielo se ve muy, muy hermoso, las estrellas se aprecian bien, por la falta de contaminación, tienen todo lo necesario para una vida tranquila.
