In this town it was a pleasure to get up early. There was no other way to eat the delicious star shaped churros which here are the typical breakfast food. If you arrive later than 9 am they had packed up. But while these disappeared others appeared for lunch loaded with all types of food. Vegetables, meat and little fishes. They had it all, anything you wanted, you only had to sit and for a couple of euros have a real feast. All this in a very urban environment. In this city, the service is good, as it is used by many travelers crossing on foot to Laos using the famous bridge of "freedom" that crosses the Mekong River.
Crossing to this country from here is easy: you just have to get there, pay about 30 U.S. dollars and submit a photo. But beware, it's one of those border crossings where they will try to cheat you if they see you clueless and the captain of the guard does not go around watching his comrades. Laos is a peaceful country with very nice people, but it here was where I had my only problem, thank God, because I already had had a long journey, I came out unscathed .....
