Lions' Gate

Climbing on top of the Ottoman Period walls which surround the Old City of Jerusalem, I managed to get this glimpse over the Lions' Gate.

Gate of the Muslim Quarter

Puerta del Barrio Musulmán

Excellent
The Puerta de los Leones is one of the seven gates that give access to the Old City of Jerusalem, located in the Muslim quarter. It is one of the most visited doors, as it leads to the Mount of Olives and many use it as the starting point to walk the Via Dolorosa. It was built in the sixteenth century when the city was under Ottoman control, and owes its name to the four carvings of leopards (badly attributed as lions) that were added to the facade by none other than Suleiman the Magnificent to celebrate his conquest of the city . A few steps inside the door, you will find the Flagellation Monastery, which contains the first station of the cross, and the Church of Santa Ana that houses the incredible Pool of Bethesda along with what is believed to be the childhood home of Maria.
