A real gem
Like so many others, this once-important bridge has now been more or less forgotten. Originally built in the eleventh century, it once had no handrails, but was renovated and expanded in the Victorian era as heavier forms of transport became more common. Visually and structurally it's a real gem, and approaching it on foot is a better option than driving, as you'll lose some of the charm if you go for the latter. So we parked our car and after about 10 minutes walking, we crossed the bridge. Beyond it is Cromlix House, a very expensive Victorian hotel owned by the famous tennis player and Dunblane
