1 review of The Head of the River

Oxford pub over the Thames

This site is great. It is a typical pub in terms of food and service (you have to order at the counter, you take your drink yourself and a fast waiter serves your food). The selection of beers is great: London Pride and Discovery are recommended to those ve like soft but flavorful beers. In fact, Head of River belongs to a chain of famous breweries in the south of England (they also have hotels and hostels) called Fuller's. The dishes are very generous, with large portions including garnish, salads and potatoes. The best part is the large pub garden: a space with about 40 wooden tables looking out onto the River Thames (which flows through Oxford) next to Folly Bridge.

Watching sunset during a spring evening from the garden with the sun at half mast and the swans and geese swimming towards their nests: priceless.
