A step back in time
On the coastal road to Thyestes, before you arrive at the famous castle of Miramere, there's a little deviation to the right, signposted as the "Grignano Sea". Following this, after a couple of wide turns you reach the port of Grignano, not as well-known as Sistiana Miramare. It's worth visiting, though, to stop at this restaurant, which is beautifully situated, overlooking the harbour. It's a historic site, its name referring to the glories of the Habsburg era.
There are two large rooms decorated in the Viennese style, with burgundy velvet armchairs, and paintings on the walls. There's a mixture of the retro and the original, with two real trees in the middle of the room, their branches hitting the ceiling.
