Praha Hlavni Nadrazi Railway Station

Hlavní nádraží, es la estación más importante que hay en la ciudad de Praga. Se ubica muy próxima al centro y sirve como punto de comunicación para todo Praga, ya que tiene parada de autobuses urbanos, parada del [poi=630911]Airport Express[/poi], parada de metro (línea C) y por supuesto, comunicaciones mediante ferrocarril. Por esta estación pasan miles de personas a lo largo del día, pero sobre todo los turistas no nos fijamos nada más en que se trata de una estación muy moderna y en todas las infraestructuras con las que cuenta, sin percatarnos en que si salimos al exterior por la parte trasera nos encontramos con el [poi=630881]edificio histórico de Hlavní Nádraží[/poi], un verdadero museo del año 1871 basado en el estilo "art-nouveau" de principios del siglo XX. Se trata de la estación más importante de Praga debido a las comunicaciones de ésta con el resto de países colindantes como por ejemplo: Budapest, Viena, Berlín, Varsovia, Moscú, Frankfurt o Munich. Dispone de una red muy amplia de infraestructuras como una de las 4 oficinas de turismo de Praga, sucursales de bancos con oficinas de cambios, tiendas, restaurantes de comida rápida, etc... El edificio histórico de Hlavní Nádraží es un verdadero museo del siglo XIX. Se trata de una constucción que data del año 1871, y que muchos hemos llegado a pensar que está en mal estado, comparándola con la modernísima estación que constuyeron en los subsuelos del edificio. Destaca la enorme y altísima cúpula completada con vidrieras basada en el "art nouveau" de la época. Esta construcción fue inaugurada por Francisco José I de Austria, poniéndola su primer apelativo como la estación de Franz Joseph I, la cual sería pronto cambiada por la estación Wilson, en honor al presidente de los Estados Unidos, Woodrow Wilson. Además conservan todo tal cual estaba hace siglos con sus diferentes esculturas sobre los ventanales, los escudos históricos y toda la decoración de la época, por ejemplo me llamó mucho la atención la cabina de teléfono que hay en la entrada con la decoración de entonces. Realmente merece una visita, que sería rápida ya que tan sólo os hará perder unos minutos subiendo de la estación subterránea al edificio antiguo.

Aislada y completamente ignorada por el mundo y por las instituciones, salvo para románticos como yo, encontré el hall de la vieja estación de trenes. No se como explicarlo. Para llegar a ella hay que cruzar un jardín que hace las veces de antesala de la Estación Central. Una vez dentro de esta última, subimos un piso y mágicamente aparece la cúpula de la antigua estación. La sensación es rara, porque aunque tiene una cafetería que parece actuar como suero para mantenerla viva, en su centro, como si de un corazón se tratara hay un gran orificio practicado en su suelo, por el que vemos el latir de la nueva estacíon, ajena al país de las maravillas que duerme encima. Alzamos la vista y vemos el esplendor mugriento y negruzco de su arquitectura art nouveau, concebida por Josef Fantay, construida entre 1901 y 1909 y descuidada por los que parecen no darle importancia. El abovedado interior está decorado con un mosaico de dos damas núbiles, la sentencia "Praga mater urbium" ( Praga madre de ciudades) y la fecha 28 de Octubre de 1918, día de la Independencia de Checoslovaquia.

Su dirección tiene el mismo nombre de la estación:Hlavni Wilsonovo Nadrazi, lo más fácil es coger el Metro: Hlavni Nadrazi (línea C), está próxima a la Plaza Wenceslao. Praga tiene una ubicación privilegiada, en el centro de Europa, a tan solo pocas horas de grandes ciudades como Viena, Bratislava, Dresde, y por supuesto Berlín. Gracias esta ubicación el tren es una de las mejores opciones para llegar. Por lo tanto, suele ser una de las ciudades fijas en los itinerarios del Interrail y eso se nota en el ambiente joven de la ciudad. En nuestro caso, el trayecto Berlin-Praga duró 4 horas y media, en un trenes muy cómodos, vamos, el estándar de los trenes alemanes. La estación está muy cercs del centro y la verdad, es que no le falta nada.

Thanks to this location the train is one of the best options to arrive. Therefore, it is usually one of the fixed cities in the Interrail itineraries and it shows in the young atmosphere of the city. In our case, the Berlin-Prague journey lasted 4 hours and a half, in a very comfortable trains, come on, the standard of German trains. The station is very close to the center and the truth is that nothing is missing.

En una de esas tardes de redescubrir Praga, llegué a esta vista de la estación de trenes. Como capital europea que es, la estación principal es gigante y miles de raíles llegan hasta allí.Siempre me han fascinado los sitios donde se cruza tanta gente y desde el puente que está detrás del Museo Principal (en la plaza Wenceslao) tenía una de las mejores vistas de la estación.
